Thee students from Elizabethtown Area High School performed at the prestigious 2017 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District Band 7 Festival. Eleventh grader Carissa Warren (French horn) and tenth graders Jared Wolf (alto saxophone) and Ryan Kruft (Euphonium) joined more than 100 other talented student musicians from central Pennsylvania at the all-star festival.
Elizabethtown Area High School senior Kathryn Shenk and sophomore Nathaniel McCloud were named finalists in the MIT INSPIRE program, a national high school research competition in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Shenk and McCloud will now vie for one of the top prizes in their respective categories in April where only the top 100 finalists are invited.
EAHS senior Olivia Farwell placed first in the state bowling championship at Dutch Bowling Lanes. Farwell bowled a 233 to claim the gold. The runner-up bowled a 170.
Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Jessica Barraclough and Scott Fox were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s students of month for March. Barraclough and Fox were honored for their high academic achievement and extensive involvement in school and community service activities.
Rheems Elementary School held its Jump Rope For Heart campaign to benefit the American Heart Association (AHA). With music pumping and kids jumping, the school raised $8,183 for the fight against heart disease and strokes.
Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Meili Kenley and Harrison Eichelberger were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s students of month for February. Kenley and Eichelberger were honored for their high academic achievement and extensive involvement in school and community service activities.
A team of students from Elizabethtown Area Middle School recently earned a medal at the Lincoln Chapter MATHCOUNTS competition held in late February at Millersville University.
Elizabethtown Area High School inducted 49 students into its T.H. Ebersole Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) at a special ceremony held Wednesday, March 8. Membership in the National Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student.
Elizabethtown Area High School senior Aparna Paul, junior Erin Kraskewicz, and freshman Anna DeGoede were each awarded a “Silver Key” in the 2017 Lancaster County Regional Scholastic Writing Awards sponsored by the Lancaster County Library.
Elizabethtown Area High School is pleased to announce it will hold its sixth annual student-run Four Diamonds Mini-THON on Friday Mar. 10 from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. the next morning. Mini-THON is a twelve-hour event patterned after Penn State’s THON in which approximately 320 high school student dancers will remain on their feet for the entire twelve hours.
A team of students from Elizabethtown Area High School recently won first place in the PA Governor’s STEM Competition. The gold-medal winning team was comprised of seniors Madison Ebersole, Solomon Heisey, Simon Munyan, Aparna Paul, and Kaitlyn Welch.
The Elizabethtown Area School District and GEARS are teaming up to support Camp Ladybug, a camp for individuals who have mental and/or physical challenges. Now in its fifth year, the charity game has netted over $6,000 for local programs.
